New kettle has "Metallic – plasticy" taste and smell?

Monday, September 12th, 2011

2 Days ago I replaced our half-year old kettle due to it rusting/corroding. Now I got this "Breville Ikon" quiet kettle. When i boil the water or make a tea, it taste like and has the smell of a metallic/plastic taste.

Ive already tried squeezing lemon juice into the water before boiling it, and its only helped for a few hours in removing the smell and taste.

What other options are there?

I haven’t tried the baking soda trick as I heard it only fixes it temporarily.

And i dont want to return it. (Ive already went through 5 Kettles)
