I would like a silent tea kettle?

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

I’m looking for a quiet tea kettle because I’m going to college and I’m an early riser, I don’t want my kettle to bother my room mate who may still be asleep when I wake up. I bought an electric tea kettle thinking it would be quieter than my stove top kettle. It makes an awful loud gurgling type noise before it even reaches a boil. I would just like something that won’t bother my room mate.
So, are there electric kettles that don’t make that noise. It’s difficult to describe.

What is the stupidest thing you have ever done?

    Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

Mine happened a couple of years ago. I was at home visiting my parents and I wanted some tea. We have an electric tea kettle so I put some water in it and tunred it on. About 5-10 minutes later, I said to my parents man your tea kettle is slow. My dad said it takes some time be patient. Then he looked over at the tea kettle, noticed it was unplugged and started cracking up. I felt really stupid…BUT I laughed at myself, and I eventually got to ahve some tea.

How long will it take for all the water to boil away?

        Tuesday, May 31st, 2011

It takes an electric tea kettle with 20 degree C water 5 min to reach boiling (100 degrees C). How long will it take for all the water to boil away.

I assumed you would use Q=mc (change in T), but the question does not specify how much water.

How do I operate a UK electric tea kettle in the US?

            Thursday, March 31st, 2011

I bought an electric tea kettle from the UK, can I use it by simply buying a plug adapter or must I buy a voltage converter as well? I read that it would work fine with just an adapter but will take longer to operate. I’m concerned about blowing my kettle or my outlet so do I need a voltage converter too? My kettle is 220-240v 50/60Hz 1850-2200W.
            Would this adapter be sufficient?

Electric tea kettle that DOES NOT whistle?

              Monday, February 7th, 2011

Does anyone know of a brand of electric tea kettle (available in the US) that does NOT whistle or make any noise when the water is ready? I want to buy one so I can have tea for myself, but I share a suite with 3 roommates and they will not be happy if I have a super loud whistling kettle going off all day long.
