I’ve had my kettle for over a year and have loved using it on almost every hike. It very light and in backpacking that is a huge advantage! However in order to shave the weight, GSI has made the kettle very thin. This makes it quicker for heating but also has resulted in some slight warpage on the bottom of the kettle. I explain what I think caused it. Even with this small problem I think the GSI kettle is still wonderful and I highly recommend it. I would but it again. www.youtube.com

A listener to www.thesurvivalpodcast.com turned me on to the Kelly Kettle. I contacted them and they were good enough to provide a full kit for me to review. I am very impressed with the speed of boiling of the Kelly Kettle along with the lack of any need to carry any type of fuel. In my test the Kelly Kettle reached a full boil on 1.7 liters of water (almost half a gallon), in under 5 minutes using only small tinder and two pine cones as a fuel source.
